A collection of advice for eating well.

Stop seeing food as entertainment. If this is difficult it helps to have one day a week when you’re allowed to go nuts and indulge. One day a week is plenty. If you can’t postpone gratification you simply need to grow up.

A meal for me is 400 calories and I aim to eat a total of 2400 calories a day. That used to be 6 meals, but since I started intermittent fasting I crammed it into 4.

I’ve been interested in what I eat since my teens. I’ve tried different diets during different periods. What I eat now a days depends on what my current priority is. It’s a mix of different diets which is perhaps not ideal for a single purpose but overall is good for several: health, fitness, taste, morals.

Eating for health

fresh vegetable and unprocessed foods. Alkaline. Complete protein. I eat whole food as much as possible. Avoiding processed foods and meat-replacments.

Eating for muscle

Lots of protein. You don’t need much to be healthy, but to build muscle you need to crank it up.

Eating for endurance and fat loss

Food high fat, low carbs.

Eating for pleasure

I’ve grown less strict over the years. It’s hard to keep diets up if they’re too disgusting. That’s why supplements often taste good, otherwise people won’t eat them even if they want to.

What I absolutely don’t eat is dairy, eggs and meat, with the exception of fish. This is both for health and moral reasons. At first this may seem very limiting but that would be ignorant. There’s tons of plant-based food out there. There’s plenty more vegetables than animals available to eat.
